El Laderón

El Laderón is the most representative archaeological site in the municipality of Doña Mencía. Its occupation has been almost continuous from the Bronze Age until its abandonment in the Middle Ages, spanning 3,000 years of history, making it one of the most important sites in Cordoba and Andalusia. El Laderón is a plateau-shaped hill, protruding from the northern slopes of the Sierra Abrevia in the Subbética Cordobesa, becoming a landmark in the landscape, social, and heritage context of present-day Doña Mencía, which is just over a kilometer and a half away.

It is located at an altitude of 820 meters above sea level, and from its plateau of just over one hectare, it overlooks the entire south of Cordoba, up to Sierra Morena, as well as the provinces of Jaén and Seville. A visual and territorial control that forms the basis for its continuous settlement over time.
